What I collect

When you buy, Gumroad passes me your email address, the name you give at checkout, your country, and the details of what you bought and when. Payment is processed by Gumroad and your card details go to them and their payment providers, not to me. I never see your card number.

If you write to me, I hold that email and my reply.

Analytics and cookies

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, no tracking pixel and no advertising network. The letters on the page are served from this site itself, not from a font service. The page remembers two small things in your own browser, the countdown at the top and whether it already showed you the note on the way out, and neither leaves your device.

The checkout happens on Gumroad, and Gumroad may set its own cookies to make the payment work and to prevent fraud. Their privacy policy covers that.

Why I hold it

To deliver what you bought, to handle refunds and support, and to keep the records that tax and accounting rules require. If you ask me a question, to answer it.

If you choose to hear from me about new editions, I use your email for that too. That is optional, it is never a condition of buying, and every message has an unsubscribe link that works immediately.

The legal basis

Performing my contract with you, for delivery and support. Legal obligation, for financial records. Consent, for any email about new editions. A legitimate interest in running a small business honestly, for the rest.

Who else sees it

Gumroad, who take the payment, deliver the files and send the receipt. My email provider, who carries the messages you send me and my replies. Netlify, who host this site and keep ordinary server logs of the kind every website has. Nobody else, unless the law requires it. I do not sell or rent your details to anyone, ever.

Some of these providers operate outside your country, so your data may be processed abroad. Where that happens it is done under the safeguards that data protection law requires.

How long I keep it

Order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Consent for email until you withdraw it. Support emails for as long as they are useful, and not longer.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, object to how I use it, ask me to restrict what I do with it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to support@wadecooperdistiller.com and it will be done. There is no charge and no form to fill in.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. I would rather you told me first and gave me the chance to put it right.

Age

These books are about buying whiskey. They are not sold to anyone under the legal drinking age, which is 21 in the United States, and I do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under that age.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the bottom changes with it.
